Practical Feng Shui

Practical Feng Shui

·        Keep your bed away from the bedroom door - doing so will ensure a good night's sleep and/or invigorating naps. Also, it's not wise to be so easily viewed from the outside, isn't it?

·        A toilet should not face your bed or a dining table and should not be positioned over the dining room in a house with a 2nd floor - obvious isn't it? You don't want the stink and you sure don't want any bathroom leaks on a dining table! Seriously though, it promotes good health.

·        Avoid a bed or table position where your back is to the window for you will not be rested enough for sleep or work - it's better to see than be seen, yes?

·        Avoid working or sleeping in irregularly-shaped rooms for they do not calm the soul. The same thing applies to rooms with beams looming from the ceiling or wall protrusions pointed at you. They do not promote harmony and may cause occupants to quarrel.

·        Doors that face one another or are one after the other should also be avoided. It is believed the luck will not stay and the graces that come will be cause for envy and rivalry.

·        Stairs should not lead straight to a door nor straight to a toilet. It is believed that you send luck out and are unable to keep it or in the case of the toilet, you flush it down the drain.

·        In choosing chimes, choose one with three, five or six dangling things on it. Just not four. What's so bad about four? The Chinese character for four is very similar to the Chinese character for death.

·        It is ideal to have a mirror on the ceiling of the dining area. The perception is that you have more food on the table, no? By the way, a round table is believed ideal for dining.
